‘FREE Drawer, Pick-up Only, (Deceased Estate)’, 2025.
Animated video projection on an antique washstand drawer, papier-mâché troll head, audio
A discarded desk drawer, once a precious part of someone’s world, stands emptied, waiting to be collected. The drawer is a wooden portal, allowing the viewer a glimpse into the long-forgotten owner’s interior world. Come and rummage in this old drawer where memory, emotion, and imagination have been stashed away and forgotten until now.
I was drawn to the idea of memories and secrets held by old, discarded items that were once treasured. I think of the inner compartments of a person, where memory settles, emotion lingers, and our imagination hides away. Each time we move through life, we gather and store these small relics of ourselves: the things we cannot name yet cannot discard.
